Tui na is included in most acupuncture sessions for orthopedic-related concerns. Tui Na (pronounced is “TWEE-nah”) translates to “Push-Grasp.” It is a form of Chinese therapeutic massage that functions to move the body’s energy (known as Qi) throughout the meridians, muscles and soft tissue. When the body is injured through physical trauma or overuse, it responds by producing scar tissue and adhesions in muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Overtime, these tissue changes cause pain, stiffness and restricted motion. Tui Na utilizes special techniques to break up and release these physical blockages in order to increase blood circulation to the tissue. It helps to restore your body’s structural integrity and stability so you can move with more freedom and ease.
