Cold and Flu Clean-Up

Are any of your cold symptoms still lingering? Nagging cough? Postnasal drip? Runny nose? Still tired? If so, your body needs either immune or detox rescue!

First to know is, there are two steps to fighting an infection:

STEP 1-Identifying an invader with the sophisticated intelligence of your immune system

STEP 2-Packaging up and removing (detoxifying) the bug and all of its byproducts, including the phlegm, mucus, and general fatigue-inducing inflammation.

If STEP 1 is the problem, follow these easy ABCs:

A- Acupuncture boosts immunity

B- Bulk up with healthy, fiber-rich foods

C- Steer clear of immunosuppressing sugars and alcohol

D- Supplement with antimicrobial herbs and immune-potentiating vitamins

If STEP 2 is the problem, your liver will come to your rescue. In Chinese medicine, the liver is the organ of transitions, seasonal, hormonal, and even the transition back into health. An indicator of a sluggish liver is residual cold and flu symptoms. An infection that lingers too long has lasting consequences that can include subclinical thyroid conditions and an autoimmune pathology that can be hard to turn around.

How can you give your liver a boost?

A- Acupuncture reduces immune-triggered inflammation

B- Herbs like milk thistle, nettles and artichoke

C- Consider N-Acetylcysteine, the Mucinex of supplements
